Let's bend some spoons.

It’s crazy to watch what’s happening within our government and our country and culture right now. Like…woah. And it’s easy to feel nervous if you are…well…literally anyone except for a handful of billionaires sitting next to the new/old president. Strange times.
And it’s 100% okay to be like…woah.
And it’s 100% okay to be nervous, and sad, and frustrated, and everything else.
And it’s 100% okay to crack jokes about moving to another country, staying drunk until 2028, or how it’s only January and the year is already a dumpster fire—or sharing whatever other meme makes you laugh and takes the pain away for a minute.
But then after that…it’s time to get to work.
Nobody can take away your power or your voice unless you let them.
Each of us is a powerful agent of change, evolution, and revolution. And when we come together in spaces like this, we expand our power exponentially within ourselves as it also ripples out into the world around us.
We don’t need laws or politicians to codify our inherent worth or dignity.
And we don’t need to spend the next four years giving all our energy to feeling frustrated or afraid. We’re better off coming together and using our voices to create—in any small or large way we can—the types of change we want to see and the community we want to live in, and encouraging others to do the same.
The reality is, that the responsibility to create the world we want and deserve falls on each of us.
I am not powerless. You are not powerless.
We just literally have a shit ton of really fucking hard work to do.
And…ok, that kind of sucks because we’re all pretty tired and worn out from All The Things that have been happening for a long time.
But like, this IS how it is. This IS where we are.
So then, what?
For me, the questions continue to be:
What am I going to do? Who am I going to be?
As I mentioned in a recent post my current focus is to channel all my energy into uncovering what’s possible.
-
What can I use my voice for?
-
How can I expand my reach and inspire others to use theirs?
-
How can I support and uplift people and their ideas?
-
How can I help people connect to that part deep inside of them – that part that knows its own power but feels afraid to access it?
-
How can I use my voice, my tools, my skills, and my heart to make myself and my corner of the world safer, more loving, more conscious, and more sustainable?
-
In what ways am I willing and able to stretch myself to achieve these objectives and live these intentions?
And part of this practice is challenging all the ways I give my power away.
-
In what ways do I believe my voice is not valuable?
-
In what ways do I shy away from saying the hard thing?
-
In what ways do I reject my responsibility to actively participate and contribute to the world around me?
-
In what ways do I prioritize short-term comfort over long-term change?
-
In what ways do I assume someone else knows better than me? Is more important than me? Has more power than me?
Personally, I didn’t come to this earth to be ground to dust until I die. I’m also not here to #resist. Resisting implies that someone else has the power and I need to keep them at bay.
Fuck. That. Shit.
I am here to create, to elevate, to evolve. I am here to connect with nature and all the things I know are here but I cannot see. I am here to fully exist, to be fully alive, fully awake, and fully free…and to help anyone else who wants these things to get them, too.
I’m not in the mood to feel hopeless or trapped. Reality is what we decide it is. So let’s all unplug from this belief that we are powerless or stuck and go bend some motherf—ing spoons. (I promised myself I wouldn’t drop so many F-bombs or make another Matrix reference, but I couldn’t help it. Sorry not sorry. 💣 🥄)
